DROP OFF A NEW TOY TO HELP CHILD HAVEN

The Napoli Group is accepting donations of toys for Child Haven through Dec. 20 at its offices, 6620 S. Tenaya Way, Suite 120.

New and unwrapped toys for children 8-18 can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Items will be picked up regularly by the Clark County Division of Family Services.

BANK OF AMERICA HOSTING TOY DRIVE THROUGH DEC. 13

Bank of America plans to host a toy drive for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through Dec. 13. The public is invited to drop off new, unwrapped toys at any Bank of America banking center in Southern Nevada. The toys will be presented to Make-A-Wish kids and their families at the organization’s annual holiday party.

98.5 KLUC TO HOST TOY DRIVE THROUGH DEC. 16

The 15th annual 98.5 KLUC Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo Toy Drive is set to run through Dec. 16 at 6226 W. Sahara Ave., with Buchanan living on the 30-foot scaffolding throughout the drive. After the drive, HELP of Southern Nevada will distribute the toys to more than 3,000 families in need.

Volunteers are needed from midnight to 6 a.m. Wednesdays through Sundays during the drive. For more information, contact Joan Lima at jlima@helpsonv.org.

APPLICATION INTAKE PEOPLE NEEDED FOR HELP HOLIDAY PROGRAMS

Volunteers are needed between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. through Dec. 16 to assist clients with their applications for holiday programs at HELP of Southern Nevada’s main campus, 1640 E. Flamingo Road.

LEARN THE ART OF PUBLIC SPEAKING AT LUNCH WORKSHOP SERIES

Las Vegas Recovery Center’s inaugural Food for Thought Continuing Education Unit monthly lunch workshop series is set for noon Dec. 18 at Central Recovery, 3321 N. Buffalo Drive, Suite 100.

Registration is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. Nationally renowned interventionist Ed Storti plans to present The Art of Public Speaking at noon. Lunch is planned for all participants at 1 p.m.

There is no cost. A one-hour continuing education unit has been approved for this workshop by the Nevada State Board of Examiners and Nurse Practitioners.

FIREFLY PLANS HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE THROUGH DEC. 20

Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar plans to host a toy drive, Toys for Tapas, through Dec. 20 to benefit foster children, including those at Child Haven.

Firefly will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys at its Summerlin-area location, 9560 W. Sahara Ave. Toys will be donated directly to the Clark County Department of Family Services for distribution.

For each toy donation, patrons will receive one free tapas of the day or a voucher for a glass of sangria, good through Jan. 31.

FOOD BEING COLLECTED FOR RESCUE MISSION

Urology Specialists of Nevada is taking part in the Las Vegas Rescue Mission’s 2013 annual food drive by collecting donations at its three office locations through Dec. 31.

All nonperishable food items will be accepted at its MountainView campus office, 3150 N. Tenaya Way, Suite 165.

NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE HOSTING DOG BED AND BLANKET DRIVE

The Pet Therapy Program at Nathan Adelson Hospice is holding its third annual Dog Bed & Blanket Drive to help keep shelter animals warm this season.

Through Jan. 31, the hospice is collecting new or gently used dog beds, blankets and towels, as well as unopened dog food, to deliver to local animal shelters. In the valley, donations can be dropped off at 4141 Swenson St., 3150 N. Tenaya Way, Suite 350, next to MountainView Hospital, or 1201 Nevada State Drive in Henderson.

More than 3,500 items were donated to local shelters over the last two winter seasons through the drive. For more information, visit nah.org.

PALM MORTUARIES OFFERING IN MEMORY OF HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS

Palm Mortuaries and Cemeteries across the Las Vegas Valley are offering holiday ornaments that can be engraved with the names of lost loved ones as part of Palm’s annual Tree of Memory Holiday Services. This year, all proceeds from the personalized ornaments will benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Last year, funds raised from the ornaments and matched by Palm Mortuary resulted in $10,000 being donated to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Personalized ornaments can be ordered at all Palm Mortuary locations daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The engraved keepsakes are available throughout the holiday season. Ornaments range in price from $10 to $25.

RESCUE GROUP TO OFFER GIFT WRAPPING

Golden Retriever Rescue Southern Nevada plans its holiday gift-wrapping fundraiser through December.

Shop at participating stores and meet some golden retrievers. The gift-wrapping effort is free, but donations will be accepted. Donations help fund the rescue group’s various programs and cover costs such as veterinary care.

Volunteers are needed to fill various shifts at the following locations in the Summerlin area: Barnes & Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.; GAP, Rampart Commons Shopping Mall, 1055 S. Rampart Blvd.; and Pottery Barn, Rampart Commons Shopping Mall, 1085 S. Rampart Blvd.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH AARP FREE TAX PREPARATION PROGRAM

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service. Volunteers are needed to help prepare tax returns.
