RICHMOND, Va. -- CarMax, a nationwide used car dealer with two stores in Las Vegas Valley, plans to hire 965 new employees in anticipation of a busy spring and summer selling season, the company said Monday.
The dealership at 1000 W. Warm Springs Road in Henderson has eight positions available, and the store at 6755 W. Sahara Ave. in Las Vegas has seven openings, company spokeswoman Elia Imler said Monday.
Most of the job openings are for sales and service consultants, inventory associates, business operations and auto technicians, she said. Pay varies according to position and experience.
The jobs would be permanent and would result in a net job gain across the company. CarMax currently has about 15,850 employees, up from 15,565 in February.
CarMax typically has a hiring push into the spring and summer, sometimes hiring as early as November, Imler said. While the full- and part-time positions are seasonal, they can lead to a career at CarMax, she said.
"We have several location general managers that started as sales consultants. We truly want to hire and train people that are going to stay with the company," she said.
CarMax is looking for job candidates who are dependable, team-oriented, possess strong customer service skills and have high integrity, said Pam Hill, director of recruiting for CarMax. They should also be willing to work the varied hours of a retail environment, she said.
Job seekers can apply at www.carmax.com/careers. The company offers a benefits package that includes health coverage, paid time off, insurance and disability, and retirement options.
With 107 used-car stores in 52 markets, CarMax sold 263,061 wholesale vehicles for the 12 months ending in February 2011, the company reported.
