Company planning Las Vegas call center asks job seekers to apply online

The company that plans to hire 500 people within a year at its northwest Las Vegas service call center is asking prospective employees to file an online job application.

Asurion LLC, the Nashville, Tenn.-based company moving into the Montecito Point office complex, directed people seeking jobs as support technicians, managers and supervisors to visit asurion.com/careers to file an application.

Asurion officially announced its entry to the Las Vegas market in a statement issued Tuesday.

“Asurion has shown a strong commitment to its employees and the communities where they reside,” Gov. Brian Sandoval said in the statement. “I am confident it will make a great addition to our business community and I look forward to Asurion’s continued investment and success in Nevada.”

Sandoval credited the state’s Office of Economic Development and the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance for recruiting Asurion to Southern Nevada.

The 20-year-old company is receiving $680,875 in tax abatement and deferral incentives from the state.

Asurion officials said the office would open by fall and it has already begun hiring. In its application for economic incentives, the company indicated it would hire 500 people within its first year and has room for 200 to 300 more employees within three to five years.

“The state’s location and business-friendly environment were two of the top reasons that Asurion chose Nevada over 13 other qualified cities and locations,” said Steve Hill, executive director of the Office of Economic Development. “Over the next 10 years, the estimated economic impact from Asurion is over $1 billion — a significant footprint on Nevada’s economy, especially in Southern Nevada.”
