Hobby Lobby’s fourth Nevada store slated to open early August

Construction is under way on Hobby Lobby Stores Inc.’s fourth Nevada store.

The new 55,000 square-foot store is at 6361 N. Decatur Blvd., at the 215 Beltway and Decatur Boulevard. It is expected to open in early August.

Las Vegas is also the site of Hobby Lobby’s 500th store, on Fort Apache, which opened in March 2012. Other locations are Henderson and Reno.

Some 35 to 50 people will be hired at the new store. Jobs pay $15.24 per hour for full-time and $10.16 per hour for part-time.

“The success of our stores in Nevada is a good indicator that area shoppers will be pleased with the quality, selection and value we offer in the craft and home decor market,” John Schumacher, assistant vice president of advertising, said in a statement.

Hobby Lobby Inc., a privately held national retail chain of craft and home decor stores, is headquartered in Oklahoma City. It began as Greco, a miniature picture frames company in 1970. When David Green moved his business from the family’s garage to a 300 square-foot retail space in 1972, Hobby Lobby was founded.

Hobby Lobby today has more than 650 stores across the nation that average 55,000 square feet in size.
