Nevada health insurance marketplace sees sharp uptick in Web traffic

Nevada’s health insurance marketplace on Tuesday reported big gains in Web traffic.

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange reported 1.33 million visits to its Nevada Health Link website from Dec. 8 to Dec. 14, up from 940,000 visits the week before.

It also had 97,000 new, unique visitors in the week, compared with 81,000 new, unique visitors a week earlier.

Since it launched on Oct. 1, Nevada Health Link has had 6.7 million site visits and 636,000 unique visitors.

Traffic to the site has picked up in recent days and weeks, given the looming Monday deadline to enroll for coverage that takes effect on Jan. 1.

The exchange didn’t release new sign-up numbers by press time, but it said on Dec. 10 that 6,629 consumers had selected qualified health plans, including 1,800 in the first week of December alone. It also told the Review-Journal on Friday that 1,537 people had actually paid for premiums.

In early estimates, exchange officials said it hoped to enroll 118,000 Nevadans by March 31.
