New call center employing 200 people opens in Las Vegas

Call center company Sitel Worldwide Corp. formally opened on Thursday a new location at 750 Pilot Road to handle a contract with the AAA clubs for Arizona and Nevada, Northern California and Utah.

According to a company statement, the new center will employ more than 200 people to answer questions from auto club members or respond to roadside assistance calls. The company said it has hit capacity at its other location with more than 1,000 people.

“The new center is a reflection of the significant growth that Sitel is experiencing throughout is business operation,” said CEO Bert Quintana, in prepared remarks.

Financial statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission show that Sitel has lost money for at least six straight years through 2012 and posted a $21.3 million net loss for the first three quarters last year. The 2012 revenues of $1.4 billion were 18 percent below the 2008 peak.

Sitel has more than 110 call centers in 23 countries.
