New executive team for R-J, Stephens Media

Ed Moss, chief executive officer of Stephens Media LLC, on Monday announced a new executive leadership team for the company and its flagship newspaper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Effective immediately, Moss named Ed Lasak as chief operating officer of Stephens Media and the Review-Journal and Mark Ficarra as chief revenue officer of Stephens Media and the Review-Journal.

Mark Hinueber will remain as the company’s general counsel and human resources director.

All three officers will report to Moss.

Moss becomes publisher of the Review-Journal in addition to his role as president and CEO of Stephens Media LLC.

Bob Brown, the newspaper’s former publisher, has left the company.

“I am pleased to announce the new executive management team at Stephens Media and the Review-Journal,” Moss said. “These three executives bring more than 90 years of combined media experience to the company and a track record of success.

“All members of this team have been involved with innovative product development and driving improved revenue performance in both print and digital products. They are all industry leaders.”

Lasak most recently served as senior vice president of finance and director of publishing operations for the Press Enterprise Co. in Riverside, Calif., part of the A.H. Belo Corp.

Before that, he held senior executive positions at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and several Tribune Co. newspapers.

He is a licensed CPA.

Lasak will oversee daily publishing activities at the Review-Journal and the other Stephens Media properties throughout the country.

Ficarra most recently served as regional vice president of sales and marketing for the Denver Post and 26 other newspapers for Digital First Media in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.

Before that, Ficarra was vice president, sales and marketing for the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Ficarra will oversee all revenue and marketing activities at the Review-Journal and the other Stephens Media properties throughout the country.

Hinueber has been with Stephens Media since 1994.

He is a member of the Nevada, Arkansas, California and Illinois bars.

Stephens Media publishes 11 daily newspapers, 64 weekly newspapers and more than 100 websites operating in nine states.
