Six new U.S.-Mexico flights for Interjet OK’d by regulators
August 18, 2012 - 1:00 am
Mexican airline Interjet received U.S. Department of Transportation approval on Thursday for six new routes to the United States, including one to Las Vegas.
The flights would connect McCarran International Airport to Toluca, a secondary airport in the Mexico City area. However, the airline did not disclose a launch date or schedule details.
Interjet, a unit of ABC Aerolineas S.A. de C.V., started flying in late 2005. Since then, its network has grown to include 24 cities in Mexico and six outside the country. In December, it launched U.S. flights with San Antonio, followed by Miami in February and New York this month.
The expansion includes three to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, plus Houston and Chicago. Currently, AeroMexico and Volaris fly 30 nonstops a week between McCarran and Mexico City.
