Brockovich-Ellis arrest stemmed from fight with husband
Erin Brockovich-Ellis and her husband drew a game warden’s attention Friday when they were seen fighting on their boat at Lake Mead.
According to the police report, Brockovich-Ellis, 52, and her husband were arguing when she threw a cell phone into the water and then slapped him.
An attendant informed the game warden, Casen Haslem, that Brockovich-Ellis and her husband were both highly intoxicated.
Haslem reported that Brockovich-Ellis was struggling to dock the boat even after he threw her a rope. As Brockovich-Ellis got closer to the warden, he noticed signs of intoxication.
Brockovich-Ellis’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit of .08. She was released from the Clark County Detention Center after posting $1,000 bail.
On Sunday Brockovich-Ellis issued an apology following her arrest.
“At no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk,” Brockovich said in a statement “That being said, I take drunk driving very seriously, this was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry. After a day in the sun and with nothing to eat it appears that a couple of drinks had a greater impact than I had realized.”
The famous environmentalist and legal advocate, who came to fame in 2000 when Julia Roberts played her in a movie about her life, is due in court Oct. 7.
