Las Vegas man sentenced for Medicaid fraud
A Las Vegas behavioral health worker was sentenced Monday for fraudulently billing Medicaid for patients who were incarcerated.
Garren Morris, 43, was sentenced 100 hours of community service, $23,946 in fines and to 150 days, which were suspended, for intentional failure to maintain adequate records.
Morris submitted false documentation between February 2011 and July 2012 showing he provided services to Medicaid recipients, who were incarcerated. The attorney general’s special Medicaid Fraud Control Unit found Morris did not visit the recipients and submitted claims for mental health services that were never administered.
Morris might also be excluded from receiving Medicaid and Medicare benefits in the future.
