Man dies, woman injured in shooting in east valley

A man was killed, a woman was critically injured and another man was arrested after a shooting Saturday afternoon at a senior citizens' apartment complex.

Las Vegas police said the incident happened about 1:30 p.m. at the Bonanza Pines senior living center at 4170 Bonanza Road, near Lamb Boulevard.

Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said patrol officers responding to calls of shots fired found a man and a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the fourth floor of the building.

The man died at the scene. The woman was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, but has since been stabilized, Steiber said.

Steiber said the three people involved were in an altercation before the shooting, but the details were not immediately known. All were residents of the building. Steiber did not believe it was a domestic dispute.

"We're still talking with people and figuring everything out. It's still very preliminary," Steiber said.

The suspected gunman was arrested without incident and probably will be booked on murder charges, police said.
