Dining Pick of the Week: Retro Bakery

Retro Bakery

7785 N. Durango Drive, No. 130, 702-586-3740

Cupcakes were the dessert du jour several years ago. Although treat trend-setters seem to have moved on to doughnuts and cakepops, cupcakes are still the sweet to beat here. Retro Bakery specializes in unique flavors, such as the signature Hop Scotch, its No. 1 seller, which is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream dipped in butterscotch ganache. The retro theme continues with Milk & Cookies (chocolate chip cake topped with vanilla buttercream and a chocolate chip cookie) and Drumstick (vanilla cake topped with vanilla buttercream dipped in milk chocolate ganache with peanuts). All cupcakes flavors are also available as cakes with 24 hours notice. A 6-inch cake is $25 and feeds eight to 10 people, while the 9-inch cake is $45 and feeds 22 to 25. Along with birthday cakes, Retro Bakery also creates custom wedding cakes, baby shower cakes and cupcake towers. For custom order quotes and information, email brian@retrobakerylv.com. Delivery is available with 24 hours notice. Along with cupcakes and cakes, the shop also bakes cookies, $1.50 each, featuring flavors such as Red Velvet Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk and Sugar/Cinnamon. For more information, visit retrobakerylv.com. Retro Bakery is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The shop is closed on Sundays and also will be closed Nov. 27-30 and Dec. 25-30.
