Start training your ice cream muscles now

If you’ve always been interested in competitive eating, here’s a way to get started in a particularly sweet fashion. And you have time to start training.

In honor of National Ice Cream Day, which is coming up on July 19, Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace will introduce the Peanut Butter & Glazed Donut Ice Cream Sundae challenge that day.

The upshot: Consume the sundae within 10 minutes, without the help of friends (or even family, presumably), and it’s free. Otherwise, it’s $30.

And this sundae is a lot to consume. It’s three pints of vanilla and strawberry ice cream, a 10-inch (10-inch!) glazed doughnut, Oreo kisses, chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Oh, and a cherry on top.

Serendipity 3, which is in front of the resort along the Strip, is known for ice cream treats, including the legendary Frrrrozen Hot Chocolate and the lesser-known but supremely indulgent Deep Fried Twinkie Sundae, with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch sauce, marshmallow sauce, hot fudge and sprinkles; and Colossal Brownie Sundae, with raspberry chocolate brownies, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, hot fudge and caramel.

Just in case you don’t like peanut butter and glazed doughnuts.
