Gay Rodeo Association celebrating 20th anniversary

The Nevada Gay Rodeo Association celebrates its 20th anniversary this year when it presents BigHorn Rodeo at Horseman's Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road.

Activities begin today at Charlie's Las Vegas, 5012 Arville St., with a 9 p.m. kickoff celebration featuring an appearance by recording artist Kristine W.

A rodeo school begins at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Horseman's Park. Contestant registration and a barbecue begin at 6 p.m. with a reverse karaoke contest starting at 7 p.m.

Rodeo events begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Charlie's Las Vegas hosts a beer bust at 9 p.m. Saturday, and a barbecue and awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Sunday at Horseman's Park.

Among events are chute dogging, bull riding, speed barrel racing, calf roping, steer decorating, goat dressing and wild drag.

Admission is $5 per person; families welcome.
