Madame Tussauds celebrates black history
February 19, 2009 - 10:00 pm
A Black History Month exhibit at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas continues through February.
Twelve wax figures are featured, from the historical Martin Luther King Jr. to the hysterical Whoopi Goldberg.
The recently debuted President Barack Obama figure and a new figure of two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington also are included.
Geared to be both educational and entertaining, the Black History Month exhibit -- the attraction's largest -- represents figures of historical importance from several decades.
Among other celebrated African-American figures featured are Sammy Davis Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Louis Armstrong, Jamie Foxx, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, James Brown and Jimi Hendrix.
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is at The Venetian, 3377 Las Vegas Blvd. South. It opens at 10 a.m., seven days a week. General admission is $25, and there are discounts for seniors, children, students and Nevada residents. Children age 6 and younger are admitted free.
