Gwar overcoming death with more death
They lost their frontman but gained a cybernetic female assassin and a fellow named Blothar.
The future of costumed, blood spewing thrashers Gwar seemed in doubt earlier in March, when their intensely outspoken lead singer Dave Brockie, who performed as Oderus Urungus, died of a heroin overdose.
But this bunch chose not to go away quietly, because, well, it has never done anything quietly ever.
Enter Berserker Blothar, who will sing and play bass, and vocalist Vulvatron, Gwar’s first female member since dancer/singer Sylmenstra Hymen last toured with the group in 2002.
Now, the band’s back on the road, overcoming death one staged beheading at a time.
