McClinton plays Boulder Station

Every joint he plays becomes a roadhouse, and everyone in the room an honorary Texan when Delbert McClinton comes to town.

A band with harmonica and horns covers all the state's musical bases, from rockin' blues to country, even if the 70-year-old frontman remains a cult favorite and musician's musician.

McClinton is known for duets with Bonnie Raitt ("Good Man, Good Woman") and Tanya Tucker ("Tell Me About It") as much as the rare single under his own name, "Giving It Up for Your Love" in 1980.

He plays at 8 p.m. today at Boulder Station, 4111 Boulder Highway. Tickets are $27.50-$54; call 547-5300.
