Revolver Saloon at Santa Fe Station offers Wild West theme in more casual venue

In the early 1990s, you couldn't throw a cow patty without hitting a country-themed club or bar.

But they fell out of favor as club-goers abandoned the Texas two-step and Western wear in favor of the Tootsie Roll and club shirts.

Revolver Saloon and Dance Hall, a new nightclub in Santa Fe Station, revives that Wild West flavor with an added twist. The 10,000-square-foot club has a country bar feel to it, all the way down to the mechanical bull that customers can ride. The DJ plays country music but mixes in some Top 40 tunes, too.

Management decided to open a country-themed club because "we saw the writing on the wall," says Chad Pallas, director of nightlife for the company. With Steve Wynn signing country legend Garth Brooks to a multiyear deal on the Strip, and country music increasing in popularity, it seemed that Revolver's time had come.

It's also the answer to a call, of sorts. People are looking for more casual venues to get their drink on and dance, too. They also want to sit down without having to pay. And they want something closer to home than the Strip can provide, Pallas says.

"With the economy the way it is, there are people disenchanted with the Strip pricing and the experience," Pallas says.

Several tables are positioned around the dance floor where anyone can sit, free of charge, Pallas says. They will even receive service at their table. Guests can reserve a table and get bottle service, which costs $250 for four people. You can also do a $250 bar tab in place of the bottle.

Revolver is open from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Most nights, some kind of event or special will be featured, such as Thursday's locals night. People with a local ID get in for $2 and pay $2 for Budweiser and Bud Light until midnight. Starting March 18, Wednesday night is ladies night, when $1 gets them in and drinks cost $1.

The dress code is casual, or hillbilly chic. Athletic attire is not allowed. Cover is $5 for women, $10 for men or $5 with military ID.
