McDonald, Shlesinger are no strangers to starring in Las Vegas

This “Lipshtick” women-of-comedy series at The Venetian is new to Las Vegas. But this weekend’s headliners aren’t.
Heather McDonald headlined the South Point last year, and her book “My Inappropriate Life” included a story about taking her sons to the Hard Rock Hotel pool when it happened to be full-on crazy as the dayclub Rehab.
“When I was in my 20s, Vegas just wasn’t like this,” McDonald, 44, said last year. “Every pool a huge party like spring break. Now it’s hard to even find a hotel (to) chill by the pool.”
She is co-billed with Iliza Shlesinger, who has the rare distinction of performing in Bally’s “Jubilee” show without taking her top off and balancing a feathered headpiece. Shlesinger did an opening set for the showgirl revue as part of the promise to headline Las Vegas by winning “Last Comic Standing” in 2008.
So with or without Vegas, these two know their way around the Strip. McDonald “doesn’t assume audiences get all the pop culture references, like the average 25-year-old that watches (‘Chelsea Lately’) does,” she noted last year. “I usually do more stuff about my life that I think is unique to me, but everyone can relate to.”
