Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for the week

Alan Parsons
We’re going out on a limb here to declare Alan Parsons the most famous producer-engineer ever to headline Boulder Station. Repeatedly. The classic rock legend more than made up for never touring during his heyday, with annual doses of his slick prog-pop instrumentals and ’80s-era hits such as “Eye in the Sky” and “Games People Play.” Tickets are $34-$67 for the 8 p.m. Saturday show at Boulder Station; call 800-745-3000.

Rap flick
Who wouldn’t want to be murdered by a pair of rappers while having it filmed for potential inclusion in an upcoming movie? Here’s your chance when Vegas humor/horror rap duo MC Randumb & Jewish Dave perform live while “killing” selected crowd members during a show that will be shot for their upcoming flick “Project M.” They start knocking ’em dead at 10 p.m. Saturday at theatre7, 1406 S. Third St. No cover if you come in a costume; call 568-9663.

Oscar Experience
Consider attending Oscar Experience: Las Vegas at Brenden Theatres at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road. A celebrity red carpet kicks things off at 3 p.m. Sunday, followed by the Academy Awards pre-show and ceremony on the big screen. Tickets are $50; VIP tickets are $300 or two for $500. Proceeds benefit Variety The Children’s Charity. Stylish evening or nightlife attire is recommended. Go to www.onalv.org.

‘Simply Ballroom’
If you can’t get enough of “Dancing with the Stars,” some real dance stars show off award-winning moves at 2 p.m. Sunday as Southern Utah University’s Ballroom Dance Company brings “Simply Ballroom” to the Clark County Library, 1301 E. Flamingo Road. From waltz to samba and costumes to match. For more information, call 507-3459 or visit the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District website at www.lvccld.org.

ATB
ATB performs Saturday at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’ club Marquee. The very popular trance DJ also writes his own mainstream dance hits, such as “Could You Believe,” “Ecstasy” and “What About Us.” The 2011 video for his song “Move On” was shot in Las Vegas and featured Shari’s Diner in Summerlin, which has sadly closed. (The malts were unreal.)
