Wayans Brothers doing stand-up at The Pearl

Since the Wayans Brothers were here New Year’s weekend, the Jabbawockeez have given their old TV theme song — “We’re happy and we’re singin’ and we’re colored” — a nightly presence in their dance show on the Strip.

But when Shawn and Marlon return to perform at the Palms on Saturday, they will be doing stand-up, not the sketch comedy that put them on the map.

“Stand-up is one of those art forms, it’s best served one on one,” Shawn said last winter. “One person telling his point of view, telling his story, telling his jokes ... not two guys kind of jumbling on each other.”

Marlon only started stand-up a few years ago, but quickly got addicted.

“It’s important because it keeps you sharp and it keeps you thinking, and it keeps you relevant and (helps with) finding out what the audience likes and what they don’t like,” Marlon said. “Honestly, it’s made me a better writer.”
