‘Amadeus’ opens at UNLV

Nevada Conservatory Theatre's production of Peter Shaffer's "Amadeus" opens Friday in the Judy Bayley Theatre at the Univesity of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Sept. 27, 28 and 29 and 2 p.m. on Sunday and Sept. 29 and 30.

Tickets are $30, $25 and $20 and on sale at the Performing Arts Center Box Office or by calling calling 895-2787.

There will be a discussion about Amadeus with the actors and members of the production staff following the performance on Sept. 27.

Set in Vienna in 1823 and recalling the events in the decade of 1781-91, the play weaves a provocative confrontation between mediocrity and genius into a tale with dramatic power.

Robert Brewer is directing Steve Rapella as Salieri, Griffon Stanton-Ameisen as Mozart and Brian Hinson as the Emperor Joseph of Austria.

Others in the cast are Ryan Fonville, Katie Mazzola, Jonathan Gatesman, Matthew Arrington, Kyle van Son, Spencer Rowe, Robert Bartusch, Ryan Fonville, Val Kolar, Doug Milliron, Kathy Futa, Joy Daniels, Savannah Smith LaBrandon Shead, Adam Allen, Oscar Fabela and Clif Yada.

Set design is by John Iacovelli, with costumes by Jessica Culpepper and lighting by Happy Robey
