Local dome home included in annual fall tour Oct. 20

Monolithic Dome homes across the United States, including one under construction in Las Vegas, will be open for tours Oct. 20 as part of the 12th annual Fall Dome Home Tour. The home will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, however donations will be accepted to benefit Small Paws Rescue.

Monolithic Domes are steel-reinforced, concrete structures known for energy efficiency, durability and strength. The tour, sponsored by the Monolithic Dome Institute in Texas, is designed to raise awareness about these unusual buildings.

Christened FenixDome, the multistory dome home in Las Vegas is at 4243 E. Carey Ave., near the intersection of Carey and Lamb Boulevard in Sunrise Manor. It encompasses 3,800 square feet of living area within a 50-diameter half sphere.
