Air Force Airman Steven A. Vincent graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Vincent is the son of Karyn and Steve Vincent of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Silverado High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Conrad J. Yup graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Yup is the son of Carl Yup and nephew of Grace Yup, both of Las Vegas. He is a 2009 graduate of the Advanced Technologies Academy.

Air Force Airman Arin J. Finch graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Finch is the son of Michelle Tuckness of Central, Utah, and Arin Finch of North Las Vegas.

Army Spc. Symone E. Harden is one of 200 chefs from bases around the wprld who gathered March 9-13 for the 39th annual Military Culinary Arts Competitive Training Event in Fort Lee, Va., where military food service chefs showcased their best cooking skills. Harden is assigned to the 549th Military Police Company, Fort Stewart, Ga., and has four years of military service. Harden is the daughter of Myrle G. Williams of Las Vegas and is a 2008 graduate of Desert Pines High School.

Air Force Airman Stephen C. Lopez graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Lopez is the son of Stephanie Lopez of Henderson.

Air Force Airman Elijah J. Huckell graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Huckell is the son of George Goshorn of Henderson and Indya Huckell of Spring Hill, Fla.

Air Force Airman Jordan A. Holomalia graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Holomalia is the son of Kelle and Al Holomalia of Las Vegas and is a 2010 graduate of Palo Verde High School.

Evan Gong, 17, of Henderson was recently honored as a distinguished finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Gong is a junior at Nevada Virtual Academy, a full-time online public school. He used the flexibility provided by the school’s technology, and the support of his teachers, to move through his classes at a faster pace, take dual-enrolled classes at UNLV and volunteer with TRIO, a U.S. Department of Education program that provides resources and assistance to students in need from middle school through college.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Deborah Ward graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Ward is the daughter of Rachel Cook of North Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Cheyenne High School.

Army 2nd Lt. Stevan Molinar has graduated from the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Molinar is the son of Angelica Molinar of Las Vegas, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 from UNLV.

The following local residents were among 708 students who made the fall 2013 Dean’s List at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif.: Sarah Forsythe and Sofia Cruz of Henderson; and Skylar Wichert, Andrew Hudgins, Alexandra Andrews and Genni Becker, all of Las Vegas.

Army Reserve Pfc. Quincey M. Greene has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Greene is the son of Tamara and Cedric Greene of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Palo Verde High School.

Army National Guard Pfc. Duanemor J. Diaz has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Diaz is the son of Debbie Diaz and nephew of Lily Pearl and Alex Agustin, all of Las Vegas, and is a 2013 graduate of Del Sol High School.
