Jaburritos settles the question of ‘sushi or burritos?’
November 4, 2015 - 4:15 pm
There are few foods in this world you could eat every single day without getting bored: pizza, burgers, pasta, tacos.
Now, thanks to chef John Chien Lee, you can add sushi burritos to the list.
Owner of the SoHo Japanese Restaurant, 7377 S. Jones Blvd., Suite 116, the veteran chef opened Jaburritos at 2600 W. Sahara Ave., No. 115, in October, bringing sushi burritos to the Las Vegas Valley. The restaurant explores the idea of Japanese-Mexican fusion by mixing ingredients and concepts of both cuisines into giant rolls of deliciousness.
The quick-serve restaurant offers a variety of about 10 speciality jaburritos, such as the Redondo (ahi tuna, salmon, yellowtail, cucumber, masago, red onion, tortilla strips, jalapeno, cilantro, wasabi mayo) or Rockport (soft-shell crab, spicy tuna, surimi crab, jalapeno, masago, cucumber, red onion, tempura crunch, chipotle mayo, sweet anguilla sauce).
Each can be wrapped in your choice of soy paper, seaweed or a flour or wheat tortilla.
If you're feeling creative, the eatery also offers a build-your-own menu in which customers can choose from a selection of proteins, toppings and sauces. There are grilled chicken, grilled steak and asada tofu options for those who are not fish fans.
In addition, Jaburritos can be recreated into nachos (jachos) or a tostada, salad or rice bowl (jabowl). Meals range from $6.25 to $12.25.
And while you're enjoying your Jaburrito, you can rest assured knowing you're also contributing to a greener environment. Not only does the restaurant use energy-efficient kitchen equipment and lighting, recycled furniture and biodegradable food containers, but it also donates a portion of its proceeds to ocean cleanup projects around the world.
Who knew sushi could save your appetite, wallet and environment?
