Las Vegas police set DUI checkpoints for St. Patrick’s Day

If you’re planning on washing down corned beef and cabbage with green beer on St. Patrick’s Day, Metro police don’t want any blarney and advise you to stay off the road.

Along with DUI saturation patrols from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday, Las Vegas police officers will set up a checkpoint to discourage drinking and driving and catch those drivers who do, a news release said Thursday.

The checkpoint is planned for an area with a record of numerous crashes, including four road fatalities in the last two years, police said.
