Two dead in Boulder City plane crash
Two people are dead after a small plane crashed into the desert west of Boulder City on Sunday afternoon, Boulder City police confirmed.
The single-engine Beech A45 crashed about one mile west of the Boulder City Municipal Airport, near the U.S. Highway 95 and 93 junction, police said.
Preliminary information indicated that the pilot reported losing his engine and was attempting to land the plane when it crashed in the desert at about
2:45 p.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer said.
The National Weather Service measured gusts up to 37 mph at the Boulder City airport Sunday.
It is unclear what caused the crash. Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board and FAA were on scene investigating the crash site.
The NTSB is leading the investigation, Kenitzer said.
Kenitzer said the NTSB typically takes months to determine the probable cause of accidents.
The identities of the two people killed in the crash will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office pending notification of next of kin.
