Parks named acting state insurance commissioner
CARSON CITY — A longtime employee of the Nevada Division of Insurance has been named acting insurance commissioner.
Amy Parks was appointed Tuesday by Bruce Breslow, director of the Department of Business and Industry.
Parks has served as counsel and hearing officer for the division since 2004, and has been chief insurance counsel since 2009. This is the second time she has been named acting commissioner.
She replaces Scott Kipper, who resigned effective July 2. Kipper served as Nevada’s commissioner from December 2008 to June 2010 and was reappointed again in October 2011.
The division regulates Nevada’s $12 billion insurance industry. Last year the agency investigated more than 2,800 consumer complaints.
