Wait until after Saturday to get that Nevada fishing license
June 12, 2015 - 5:04 pm
If you’ve been waiting to get that Nevada fishing license, take an extra day.
Saturday is Free Fishing Day, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. That means it’s the only day of the year that children and adults can fish at select Nevada parks without a fishing license or trout stamp, the department announced Friday.
Free Fishing Day always falls on the second Saturday in June. Events are scheduled for Boulder City Pond, Floyd Lamb Park, Sparks Marina in Sparks, Echo Canyon State Park in Pioche, Cave Lake State Park in Ely and Chinese Garden Ponds in Carlin.
A family fishing derby will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Boulder City Pond, and fishing with Councilman Steve Ross is set for 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Floyd Lamb Park.
Contact information for the fishing events at these and other Nevada parks can be found at www.ndow.org/fish/free_fishing_day/.
