Buffalo Bill’s scheduled to reopen Thursday

Buffalo Bill’s hotel-casino in Primm will reopen this Thursday after almost two weeks of maintenance, a company official confirmed Monday.
Herbst Gaming decided to close its largest casino and hotel in Primm during what is historically the slowest time of the year, directing customers to the company’s two other properties in Primm — Whiskey Pete’s and PrimmValley Resort, Herbst Gaming general Counsel Sean Higgins said.
“We had some renovations that had to be done,” Higgins said. “A lot of the work was low voltage over the casino. Rather than do it while there were people in the casino, we decided to close it down while they were doing that.”
Construction crews have been working 24 hours a day to get the work that would have taken nearly three months complete if the casino remained open, he said.
“It just worked out very well,” Higgins said. “We were trying to figure how and when we were going to do this maintenance. We decided the best way to do it is push all the business to the other two for 10 days.”
The 1,242-room hotel will reopen Thursday and is booking rooms at $29 per night during the week and $69 on the weekend at the company’s Web site through the end of the year.
New Year’s Eve is available for $79.
Whiskey Pete’s has 834 hotel rooms and Primm Valley Resort has 957.
The casino work comes as Herbst Gaming is completing its restructuring under Chapter 11.
