A 32-year-old woman accused of killing her 8-month-old son pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in District Court on Monday.

Hermosillo-Dellamas told police that the baby fell out of a bed, according to a North Las Vegas Police Department report. Authorities concluded the infant had been beaten to death.

A 37-year-old Las Vegas motorcyclist died after crashing Monday into the side of a semi-truck in North Las Vegas, police said.

The man, whose name was withheld by authorities, was northbound on a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle on Donovan Way, near Craig Road and Interstate 15, about 4:30 p.m. when the truck driver, who was southbound on Donovan, turned in front of him. U-TURN WRECK

Man killed in crash was Las Vegas resident

The 69-year-old Las Vegas driver killed Friday night when his car was hit on Silverado Ranch Road just past Arville Street was Michael Dodge Hawkins, the Clark County coroner's office said.

Hawkins was trying to make a U-turn in his 2000 Chrysler Sebring at Silverado Ranch's dead end about 7:03 p.m. when a 2006 Ford F150 pickup driven by John Obeslo, 45, of Henderson, slammed into the driver's side of the Sebring. Police said Obeslo had been speeding westbound when he hit Hawkins' car.

Preliminary evidence indicated that alcohol, in addition to speed, contributed to the collision, police said.

Hawkins was pronounced dead at the crash. Obeslo was taken to the University Medical Center, where he was in serious condition late Saturday. On Monday, a hospital official said no one by that name was at the center.

MERCEDES-PT CRUISER CRASH

Man killed in wreck on Beltway identified

A man who died Saturday after crashing his Mercedes into a PT Cruiser on the Las Vegas Beltway near Pecos Road has been identified as D'Maj Smith, 28, of Henderson.

Trooper Kevin Honea of the Nevada Highway Patrol said Smith entered the highway at Eastern Avenue at 3:09 a.m. traveling east at a high rate of speed. Witnesses said the man crashed into the back of the PT Cruiser, causing both cars to spin, Honea said.

The Mercedes ran off the highway, hit a guardrail and overturned. Smith, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from his car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Mercedes was taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The PT Cruiser came to a stop in one of the highway's travel lanes, and the vehicle's male driver was unharmed, Honea said.
