Laughlin teenager killed in crash near Needles Highway

A 19-year-old Laughlin man was killed early Tuesday morning near Needles Highway and Bruce Woodbury Drive when the car he was riding in rolled over, Las Vegas police said.

Authorities did not release the name of the victim, who was a passenger in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am.

Police said the incident occurred at 3:58 a.m. when the driver of the Grand Am, a 17-year-old girl from Laughlin who was not identified, was traveling southbound on a gravel road when she lost control of the vehicle.

Police said the car began sliding sideways, then entered the desert area and rolled. The passenger, who was thrown from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation, police said.
