Police: Fatal stabbing tied to shopping cart incident

A man was stabbed to death after bumping a shopping cart into a vehicle in a southeast valley Wal-Mart parking lot Wednesday night, Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called to the Wal-Mart at 5198 Boulder Highway, near Nellis Boulevard, at 6:45 p.m., Lt. Lew Roberts said.

When they arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed multiple times.

The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Roberts said the man was pushing a shopping cart and hit the suspect's vehicle. The suspect got out of the car, stabbed the victim and left the scene, Roberts said.

Police arrested the suspect at Boulder Highway and Harmon Avenue.

The names of the suspect and the victim were not released.

"That's basically it, over a shopping cart," Roberts said.
