• PLAYING SINGLE -- When it comes to her social life, Wimbledon champion Serena Williams says she flies solo.

"It is hard to have a relationship with me because I'm a little crazy, and I wouldn't want to date me," she told the London Daily Mirror. "I'm a little psycho, but that's OK.

"Am I with anyone now? Yes, I am. I'm with my racket, and his name is Wilson. He's amazing."

• FLORAL ARRANGEMENT -- A convicted bank robber who says he had to panhandle to repay a debt to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has had his debt erased by a local businessman.

Dennis Paiva was ordered by a court to pay $4,000 after selling Brady's expensive flower boxes for scrap metal, mistakenly believing they had been put behind Brady's Boston condominium as trash in May 2008.

Dan Greenwald, the owner of a Burlington, Mass., ad agency, said he decided to pay the restitution after reading about Paiva's plight in the Boston Herald on Friday.

Greenwald said it seemed as if Paiva, who says he can't work because of recent surgery, got "the rawest of raw deals."

Paiva, 61, said Greenwald's gift was like "a dream come true."

• ROMO HAS HOLES IN POCKET -- New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs tossed some bulletin board material Tony Romo's way during an interview with ESPN 1050 in New York.

"I don't think he's that good a passer, to be honest with you," Jacobs said, adding that Romo can't survive as a pure pocket passer, that much of Romo's success is based on improvising on the run.

"I'm not a fan of Tony Romo, no," Jacobs said. "Keep him in the pocket, he's not that good. ... His luck will be gone sooner or later. If you were to keep Tony Romo in the pocket, he's not that effective."

British rugby commentator Barrie McDermott, as quoted by BBC Sport, during the broadcast of the Wigan-Hull game:

"You don't need to be a rocket surgeon to work that out."
