Did you know Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao both have a sweet tooth?
Did you know Pacquiao has a frequent flier number for his dog? Or that Mayweather doesn’t cook in a microwave?
As their May 2 megafight at the MGM Grand Garden draws closer, the P.R. teams for both fighters decided to have a little fun with the promotion and put together a list of “Did You Know?” facts about both Mayweather and Pacquiao.
When it comes to sweets, Mayweather is a big fan of Twizzlers while Pacquiao loves Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups. When it comes to eating healthy, Mayweather consumes juice made from scratch while Pacquiao only drinks water that is hot or at room temperature.
Mayweather will eat hot dogs and Ramen noodle soup. But he doesn’t use mustard or ketchup on his hot dogs. Instead, he goes with barbecue sauce. Pacquiao eats steamed white rice along with chicken at virtually every meal and has been known to cook his own dishes.
He may not be a germophobe but when Mayweather goes out to eat, he always orders a glass of hot water at the restaurant to let his silverware soak in the glass before using them. And he prefers a fast food joint over a 5-star restaurant. Mayweather’s meals are never microwaved. He insists on having them cooked on a stove or in an oven.
Both are workout fiends. Mayweather will average 1,000 sit-ups a day during a training session while Pacquiao averages over 2,500 sit-ups. Mayweather has been chopping wood to prepare for the fight and he had tree trunks brought in from Big Bear that weigh 700 pounds apiece.
Pacquiao regularly has 500 fans who follow him on his daily runs through Los Angeles. Mayweather also has members of his team accompany him when he runs in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao begins every morning with a bible reading. Mayweather brushes his teeth for 10 straight minutes when he wakes up. Mayweather also gets a manicure and a pedicure once a week at home when he trains for a fight.
To relax, Mayweather will play Mega Touch. He also enjoys watching the movie Troy, which stars Brad Pitt. Pacquiao is into photography and recently purchased two high-end cameras.
What we all know is that both of these guys can fight. And all of their idiosyncrasies will be put aside once they climb into the ring May 2.
