MMA Rankings: Andrei Arlovski’s loss propels Derrick Lewis
It was a good week for rising heavyweight star Derrick Lewis in the CoveringTheCage.com rankings even though he hasn’t fought since a split-decision win over Las Vegan Roy Nelson in July.
Lewis took the place of Andrei Arlovski in the top 10 after the former champion suffered his third consecutive loss when Josh Barnett choked him out in the third round of the main event of UFC Fight Night 93 in Hamburg, Germany, on Saturday.
Barnett climbed two spots to No. 8.
Light heavyweights Alexander Gustafsson and Ryan Bader both recorded impressive victories, but maintained their respective spots in the 205-pound division.
There could be huge changes at heavyweight next week. Not only will Stipe Miocic put the heavyweight belt on the line against Alistair Overeem at UFC 203 in Cleveland, Ohio, but former champ Fabricio Werdum will take on Travis Browne.
