Formula DRIFT Series returns to LVMS
August 24, 2012 - 1:09 am
The Formula DRIFT Series is back at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway today and Saturday.
Gates open at 5 p.m. both days.
Points leader Vaughn Gittin Jr. headlines the field. The 2010 series champion is coming off a victory in Belmar, N.J.
The Las Vegas event is the next to last in the seven-race season.
■ SCHEDULE CHANGE - The U.S. Auto Club's Turkey Night Grand Prix slated for Nov. 17 at LVMS's Bullring has been canceled.
USAC decided to schedule its 2012 races on dirt tracks, wiping out its National Midget Series race that was to take place in Las Vegas.
The Hoosier Tire Late Model Series replaces that event.
■ OFF-ROADING IN PRIMM - With 23 classes of racers, the Dusk-till-Dawn 300 off-road race will be held this weekend in Primm.
Qualifying for some classes is today, and the event begins at 8 p.m. Saturday.
It is produced by the High Desert Racing Association and the Arizona Desert Racing Association.
