9 best places for a first date in Las Vegas
April 9, 2015 - 3:07 pm
A report from dating app Clover said that the No. 1 meeting place for a first date is Starbucks. But meeting for coffee is cliche, so we asked our Facebook fans where they would take someone on a first date in Las Vegas.
Many of more than 200 comments were inappropriate, of course. Taking someone on a first date to a swingers club might be fine for some, but there are some more easygoing options.
Here are a few of those better suggestions:
Peppermill Fireside Lounge at 2985 Las Vegas Blvd S
The Peppermill, located between the Riviera and the Wynn, has been open for more than 40 years. Their interior still has a funky 70s vibe with pink and purple lighting and the eponymous fireside lounge, perfect for an intimate date. The 24-hour restaurant and bar has an extensive food and drink menu.
High Roller at 3545 South Las Vegas Boulevard
The family-friendly just-east-of-the-Strip observation wheel just marked one year of revolution. The pods can be rented privately with or without a bar, but even with a few other strange couples, the 30-minute trip around can be just as enjoyable.
Applebees at various locations
This was actually No. 10 on Clover’s list, but it was suggested more than a few times. Maybe it’s their 2 for $20 menu, or maybe their Bahama Mama, but apparently its a good place to get to know someone.
Fremont East/Downtown around 511 Fremont St
Rachel Crosby, who suggested both the Linq (where the High Roller is located), also suggested Fremont East. “Somewhere you can walk, talk, grab drinks, enjoy the city,” she said. With many different options for eating and drinking, a first date in Downtown can be as romantic or platonic as you wish.
Main Street Station at 200 N Main St
Cheryl Lowe suggested Main Street Station’s Triple 7 restaurant, “it’s so nice and the food is fabulous, plus they brew their own beer and they have a sushi bar!” Since this one’s also Downtown, you can always take a stroll down Fremont for some bonding people-watching.
Double Down Saloon at 4640 Paradise Rd
Like the aforementioned swingers clubs, this one isn’t for everyone, but a lot suggested it. If you’re into bacon martinis and punk rock and doing a shot called “ass juice,” and so is your date, this would be the place for you.
Red Rock Canyon near 3205 Nevada 159
While an untimed hike or outdoors trip might be daunting as a first date location, it still comes recommended. Check out the views while not being distracted by your phone or a movie. Other outdoor areas are good, too. “I took mine on our first date to see the sunset over Lake Mead from the Boulder City scenic outlook,” Daniel Mitchell said.
Yama Sushi at 1350 E Flamingo Rd #18
Yama Sushi is one of the highest rated AYCE sushi restaurants in town, and it’s usually very crowded, but if you’re looking for your seafood fill, our Facebook fans recommend it.
Ri Ra Irish Pub at 3930 Las Vegas Blvd
Located inside Mandalay Bay, this bar actually has five separate bars. What sets it apart is its authenticity — everything is scrapped from something out of Ireland. They also have a pretty interesting dinner menu and the bars have a light, fun atmosphere for a couple to bond.
Or grow to hate each other. First dates aren’t perfect.
