‘Bruno’ takes aim at cage fighting

It won’t excite the PR folks at UFC, but the bit in the movie "Bruno" in which Sacha Baron Cohen’s new character Bruno poses as cage fighter "Straight Dave" is a hilarious spoof on the UFC phenomenon.

Cohen’s "Bruno" isn’t nearly as funny and surprising as his first movie "Borat" and thus won’t become a cultural touchstone, which is "very nice" for the UFC folks who seek to move the sport into mainstream American life. I found the first half of "Bruno" hard to watch. Second half gets better, highlighted by "Straight Dave".

American movie goers awarded "Bruno" the top spot for ticket sales over the weekend. But, if my  BBS (Blackberry Boredom Scale) is accurate, "Bruno" won’t last long on top. I looked at my Blackberry six times during "Bruno," giving the movie a BBS 6 (zero is great and 10 is dreadful).
