Dining pick of the week: Algobertos Mexican Food

PICK OF THE WEEK:
ALGOBERTOS MEXICAN FOOD
7501 N. Cimarron Road at Farm Road, 395-7690
When a restaurant claims to be family-owned, that claim has to transfer over to a menu with homemade dishes and personable service. Algobertos lives up to that claim with an authentic Mexican menu that is delicious and a restaurant that is friendly. Combination plates come with rice and beans and include beef taco and cheese enchilada (my favorite), two cheese enchiladas, chile verde, two beef tamales or tacos, shrimp rancheros, chorizo plate, chile relleno with cheese enchilada, beef or chicken chimichanga, carnitas plate, chicken asado, chicken taco and chicken enchilada, and spicy shrimp a la diabla. Featured tacos are carne asada, tongue, pork, fish, beef and chicken or plain rolled tacos or rolled tacos with cheese and guacamole. Featured a la carte items include large nacho platters, tostadas (bean, beef, chicken), enchiladas, chimichangas and more than a dozen burritos (shrimp, chorizo, breakfast, chile relleno, fish). Among the sandwiches are beef, chicken, pork, ham and shredded beef. Popular sides are quesadilla (cheese, chicken, beef), chips with cheese, and asada fries. Combination plates begins at $5.25 and sandwiches start at $3.50. Algobertos is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. — Jack Bulavsky
