PICK OF THE WEEK:
JERUSALEM GRILL
4825 W. Flamingo Road at Decatur Boulevard, 341-5555
There's a little of everything in Las Vegas including this glatt kosher Mediterranean and Israeli-style restaurant. It is supervised by Chabad of Southern Nevada, which means it really is kosher. And, as a reminder, glatt kosher meat has been processed under strict kosher dietary laws. Among the entrees are rib-eye steak, half grilled chicken, schnitzel (breaded and fried chicken breast), whole fried tilapia, pargiyot (skewers of baby chicken), lamb chops, half-pound hamburger, beef kabob and Chinese-style chicken breast. Entrees are served with two sides such as couscous, mashed potatoes, rice or Israeli salad. Popular appetizers are hummus and mushrooms, stuffed grape leaves, and grilled tomatoes and onions. Featured pita sandwiches are falafel, shawarma, schnitzel, beef kabob and baby chicken. The restaurant makes its own pita bread and laffa, a chewy bread cooked on a griddle or frying pan. There are soups such as lentil, bean, vegetable and everyone's favorite, matzo ball. A kids menu has chicken nuggets or hamburger. Finish the meal with a Turkish coffee or limonana, a lemonade with mint leaves. Entrees begin at $14.99 and sandwiches at $6.99. Jerusalem Grill is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to sundown Friday. -- Jack Bulavsky
