DragonRidge expands, increases country club membership fees
October 18, 2008 - 9:00 pm
Due to an increase in demand and limited availability, DragonRidge Country Club announced that it will increase its membership fees effective Nov. 1.
DragonRidge will open the first Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf in Nevada as well as a new 14,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness facility next year.
"As DragonRidge continues to become one of the most sought after country clubs and golf courses in Southern Nevada, we felt we needed to adjust our membership fees accordingly," said Larry Wright, general manager of DragonRidge. "This increase will ensure that DragonRidge maintains its exclusivity for our members, especially during this exciting period of growth and expansion."
DragonRidge fees will increase as follows: Golf memberships will go from $65,000 to $80,000; corporate memberships will go from $150,000 to $200,000; sports memberships will go from $15,000 to $20,000; and social memberships will be a non-refundable $3,500.
Nestled within MacDonald Highlands, the award-winning DragonRidge Golf Course takes full advantage of the community's dramatic elevations and mountainous setting.
The centerpiece of the custom-home planned community, this course features a private championship 18-hole, 72-par course, and will soon become home to the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf.
On Oct. 7, guests were treated to a sneak peek of the facility, featuring a hands-on clinic with Mike Malaska, PGA professional and worldwide director of instruction for Nicklaus Academies.
Malaska is listed among the Top 30 Greatest Teachers in America by Golf Digest and has been among Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers since 1996.
Malaska will oversee the instructional program at the Jack Nicklaus Academy, which will include a learning facility, featuring the Nicklaus integrated technologies and fitness program.
"We are proud to become home to the only Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf in Nevada and know that it will be an incredible amenity for current and future DragonRidge members," said Rich MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands and DragonRidge Country Club.
"Our championship course not only offers golfers the best golf in Southern Nevada but now will have the ability to help players perfect their game."
Next spring, DragonRidge Country Club also will unveil a new 14,000-square-foot, members-only fitness facility.
The luxury center will feature 4,500 square feet of workout area, five championship tennis courts -- one with stadium viewing -- as well as three fitness studios, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts and a park.
DragonRidge Country Club is located within the 1,200-acre MacDonald Highlands community featuring custom home sites with Strip and mountain views.
MacDonald Highlands is located at the intersection of Valle Verde Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway.
The community's information center is located at 1730 W. Horizon Ridge and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
