Former Mercedes-Benz salesman returns to Fletcher Jones

Mark Chernine has returned to his roots in the car business with Fletcher Jones Imports at 7300 W. Sahara Ave.

A 28-year resident of Southern Nevada, Chernine's background in the car business includes eight years with Fletcher Jones Automotive Group, which has serviced Las Vegas for more than 40 years.

Rejoining the group was ideal, considering Chernine's vast following of customers. He is working as a sales manager while also serving as a sales representative. In Fletcher Jones Automotive Group, Chernine is part of an organization with three dealerships in the Las Vegas Valley.

The group is the largest independently owned Mercedes franchisee in the United States.

"I have never sold a car, but I have helped thousands of people buy cars," said the 60-year-old Chernine, a native of Southern California. "I get a kick out of helping people and with the Mercedes line; we're dealing with a high-quality product."

The Mercedes line is extensive and now includes the newly redesigned 2010 E-Class which offers the E350 and the E550 sedans and coupes.

"We are also selling a lot of 2010 GLKs at our West Sahara (Avenue) dealership -- both two-wheel and all-wheel drive," explained Chernine. "With our product line, our buyers span from people looking at Hondas and Toyotas, all the way up to others who are looking for Rolls-Royces and Bentleys. We have vehicles starting in the $34,000 range up to a half million dollars."

Chernine said he has received calls from old customers who have heard that he returned to Fletcher Jones Imports. In addition, he liked the fact that the majority of the employees who were working at the dealership when he left in 2006 are still working there.

"It was kind of like I left on a Friday and came back on a Monday," he said. "I was welcomed back by employees that I had developed friendships with over the years. It was quite a warm feeling."

Dealership General Manager Steve Kaplan said he was ecstatic to have Chernine return to the dealership.

"Mark brings with him years of experience," Kaplan said. "He is the type of sales executive we like having, primarily because he has so much experience not only in the car business but also in the Mercedes-Benz line."
