Las Vegas skyline ranked 60th on global list

The Las Vegas skyline doesn’t even break the top 40 as one of the best, according to a ranking by Emporis, an international building database.
The ranking was based on the number of buildings as well as their height, not necessarily aesthetics. They looked at completed skyscrapers with at least 40 floors and high rises with at least 12 floors and assigned a point value.
Hong Kong took the top honor, with 7,794 buildings in its skyline. New York City took second place, with more than 6,000 buildings. Moscow had the most with 10,905 buildings.
Hong Kong and New York City’s skylines are filled with impossibly tall towers cramped together on a small space, as are many of the other cities listed.
The Las Vegas Strip has only a few dozen skyscrapers, spread out in a line along one, 4-mile street, and in terms of recognizability, it’s most likely number one globally.
Las Vegas came in 60th place, with 140 buildings on 131 square miles and a score of 2,668. Hong Kong’s score was 133,531, for context. Las Vegas’ ranking beat out iconic cityscapes such as San Francisco (62), Paris (66), Montreal (74) and Ho Chi Minh City (77).
