Nervo, returning to Las Vegas, excited for year ahead in Sin City

I avoid conducting email interviews with celebrities, because I prefer my glorious words enter directly into their ears.

But Australia’s Nervo twins (Liv and Mim) were running around India last week, and we couldn’t find a proper time to Skype. The only way we could make an interview happen this time was via email.

Fortunately, they are fun. They are perhaps the most popular DJs among other DJs, these classically trained musicians who turned down opera college to write songs for pop stars and then for themselves.

Nervo (“We’re All No One,” “You’re Gonna Love Again,” “Not Taking This No More”) will perform Thursday at MGM’s Hakkasan nightclub, and again on Nov. 7 and 21.

QUESTION: How do you like performing in Vegas lately? Is it becoming old hat at all? Or is it becoming better? And why? There is no right or wrong answer, except to the publicists reading this email right now.

ANSWER: We always look forward to Vegas. We have had a summer in Ibiza for our Ushuaia Residency so it’s great to be back. Hakkasan keeps evolving — adding to the production etc., and the crowds are getting bigger and more crazy so we’re excited for the year ahead in Sin City.

Plus, we keep discovering more yum restaurants and cool shows to see so we’re never bored or hungry.

Q: Please tell me in exquisite detail your very favorite Vegas story. I’m not necessarily looking for a TMZ story. So don’t give me that “what happens in Vegas …” line. You must have one good fun story that won’t get us all thrown into TMZ jail. Pretty please with sugar on top.

A: You’re right — there are a few stories we probably shouldn’t talk about.

But one that I can discuss was a night when we were playing and Nick (Afrojack) and all his Jacked crew came to support and hang out. Nick jumped on the decks at the end of our set and the crowd loved it. Nothing beats having your friends come to your gig to support and party with you — even better when those friends can add to the vibe! Bless Nick, he’s such a good guy!

Q: The last time I wrote about you, I said in the newspaper you two should have your own TV show on a travel channel, because you’re so talented, happy and you’re CoverGirls, and you do all sorts of crazy things around the world — ziplining, or whatever. Is this TV show ever going to happen? And more specifically, have you done anything exciting/insane like ziplining during your travels lately?

A: Funny you should ask because we keep getting asked to do a TV show, but right now there’s nothing we want to commit to.

Liv is still recovering from her back accident and vows never to follow Aoki again.

Q: How is/was India? It looks beautiful on your Instagram. Did you reach a higher level of existence? I hear it’s wondrous/a shock to the system.

A: India has been very grounding. The poverty is a constant reminder of how lucky we are. The people here are so friendly and genuine. We are learning a lot about Indian culture — the people, the colors, the flavors, the textures, and the beliefs. We feel truly blessed to have these types of experiences.

Q: Do you have any news for me?

A: Hmmm. … News would be that Liv is pregnant with Tiesto’s baby — haha! JOKING! The only news is that we’re working solidly on our album and hopefully will have it out by early next year. Until then we have a few collaborations coming out before the end of the year, which we’re super excited about.
