Recycling campaign unleashes freaky recycling mascot
October 17, 2015 - 10:58 am
The new mascot for the recycling campaign in Niagara Falls is freaking out anyone who catches a glimpse.
Named Totes McGoats, the mascot is apparently a man wearing a blue shirt with a goat head. And it looks just as creepy as it sounds.
However, leave it to the Internet to give this crazy-looking mascot the viral attention it deserves. After pictures of Mr. McGoats first appeared, social media took them and ran. Just check out the Twitter love he's received so far.
The brains behind the mascot is Brook F. D'Angelo, the coordinator of Niagara Falls Solid Waste Education and Enforcement team.
According to Syracuse.com, D'Angelo said the goat mask is a reference to Goat Island, and since goats eat everything, she figured it would be the perfect representation of recycling. While she was hoping for a good reaction, she never expected to go viral.
Oh, and in case you were looking for a Halloween costume yourself, the mask cost $60 from their $100 budget for the mascot.
