Rhodes Homes, Glynda Rhodes celebrate holidays with Eagle Quest

Glynda Rhodes delivered holiday cheer to a room filled with more than 100 teenage boys and girls celebrating the season and their participation in the Eagle Quest program.

The Rhodes Homes vice president of interior and architectural design spent the evening of Dec. 18 enjoying the festivities and capped the night by presenting to each child a Target gift card as well as a coveted Nintendo Wii game system.

"Rhodes Homes has been a supporter of Eagle Quest almost since its inception," said Ray Tippetts, chief executive officer of the nonprofit organization that provides residential treatment to at-risk youth through therapeutic care and life skills education.

"Glynda understands our kids are older and often overlooked during the holidays. She sits down with them and really gets to know them, and her gifts are truly appreciated by everyone," Tippetts said.

Rhodes, who is also owner and president of ID Interior Design, brought two of her children to the Eagle Quest event. They participated in gingerbread house making, caroling and a nativity story performance.

"I just love the boys here at Eagle Quest," she said. "I have five sons, so I understand (Eagle Quest kids) and can appreciate how hard they work to make a better life for themselves."

About 75 percent of Eagle Quest's children are male and most are adolescents. The organization strives to teach them how to thrive once they reach adulthood.

"We are trying to prepare these kids to become responsible adults," Tippetts said. "Every year we take them to Utah for a therapeutic camp that shows them a whole new world outside of the one they're in. This year we had one child who saw stars for the first time on the trip. It gives them a different perspective on life."

"We appreciate the generosity Glynda Rhodes and her companies have shown us over the years," Tippetts said. "She spends thousands of dollars to help them have a happy holiday season and each one of them is truly grateful."

Rhodes Homes has built more than 6,000 homes in the valley and is currently developing 16 neighborhoods in the area. Two of Rhodes' largest developments are Tuscany Residential Village and the Rhodes Ranch master-planned communities.

Tuscany Residential Village's 35,000-square-foot recreation center, La Vita Tuscana, includes a lap pool, lagoon pool, hot tubs, workout facility, basketball courts, tennis courts; and jungle gyms for children.

Rhodes Ranch residents have access to the 35,000-square-foot R Club recreation center.

To visit Tuscany Residential Village, take Lake Mead Drive past Boulder Highway to Mohawk Drive and turn left. Follow signs to the clubhouse. To visit Rhodes Ranch, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to Durango Drive, then go south to Rhodes Ranch Parkway.

All Rhodes Homes sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, visit rhodeshomes.com.
