Summerlin, the 22,500-acre master-planned community populating the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, is known for its desert landscape and close proximity to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Now, Summerlin residents have a world-class water park at their doorsteps. Wet ’n’ Wild Las Vegas, once the famed attraction on the Las Vegas Strip, has been reborn in Summerlin and opens at the end of this month in the southwestern area of the community.
The $50 million water park is the newest perk to living in Summerlin. In addition to the many neighborhood parks with pools, ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic ramadas, Summerlin residents now have easy access to Wet ’n’ Wild, 7055 S. Fort Apache Road, near the Las Vegas Beltway and Sunset Road.
The water park, which is open to the public, features more than 25 slides and attractions, including a lazy river, interactive children’s play area, half pipes and slides, and Red Rock Bay wave pool, which has 3-foot-high swells as well as shallow rolling waves for adventuresome body surfers or pool loungers just looking to relax.
“As Summerlin matures, residents enjoy more and more community amenities that continue to reinforce Summerlin’s reputation as the best place in Las Vegas to call home,” said Danielle Bisterfeldt, director of marketing for Summerlin. “Wet ’n’ Wild Las Vegas is yet another bonus to living in this master-planned community. From hiking, cycling, shopping and dining, we now have a water park to add to the roster of fantastic entertainment choices in this community.”
Adjacent to Wet ’n’ Wild is a 9-acre public park and a site for a future aquatic center, which is currently being planned by Clark County and The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin’s developer. For more information about Summerlin amenities, visit summerlin.com.
Summerlin began to take shape in 1990 and has ranked in the country’s top 10 best-selling master-planned communities for nearly two decades by national real estate research companies.
Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with about 6,600 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan. The community is currently home to more than 100,000 residents.
Amenities include more than 150 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 miles of trails, 26 public and private schools, 14 houses of worship, nine golf courses, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities and business parks.
The community has more than three dozen actively selling floor plans. Homes are available in a variety of styles — from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts — priced from the $200,000s to more than $1 million.
Custom homesites in The Ridges are priced from the high $200,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $800s.
